The Patriot Awards Gala marks the culmination of the 2026 Congressional Medal of Honor Society Convention in Detroit. Living Medal of Honor Recipients, distinguished leaders, and guests gather to celebrate the values that define our nation.
About the Patriot Awards
The Patriot Award is the highest recognition bestowed by the Congressional Medal of Honor Society. Reserved for individuals who, through their life’s work, embody devotion to freedom, allegiance to country, and an enduring commitment to courage, sacrifice, integrity, patriotism, and citizenship, the Patriot Award stands as a tribute to America’s finest.
The Awards Program
At the Gala, the Society will present awards to worthy individuals and organizations who:
- Promote and perpetuate the principles upon which our nation is founded
- Encourage the values of the Medal of Honor Exemplify patriotism, valor, and fidelity
Each nominee must meet the Society’s rigorous standards and be approved by the Congressional Medal of Honor Society Board of Directors. Awardees are expected to attend the Gala in person, ensuring their recognition is a living tribute that’s shared with the community.
Awards Presented at the Convention:
- Patriot Award – The Society’s highest honor, recognizing a lifetime dedicated to freedom and the ideals of the Medal of Honor.
- John R. "Tex" McCrary Award for Excellence in Journalism – Celebrating those who, through journalism, have provided service to, or unbiased coverage of, the U.S. Military.
- Bob Hope Award for Entertainment – Recognizing members of the entertainment industry who have served or portrayed the U.S. Military with distinction.
- Distinguished Citizen Award – Honoring Americans whose lives reflect freedom and the core values of the Medal of Honor Society.
